Forskarlunch Cornelius Holtorf GEW - Videum Science Park
However, in … 2018-12-07 Cornelius Holtorf argues in this provocative account of more than two years of research that archaeological companies and institutions are not in the business of understanding the past but of enhancing people's lives through adventures, mysteries, and revelations and by offering a chance to care. Cornelius Holtorf (CH): To me, archaeology is a phenomenon of the contemporary world. Archaeology is not only an academic pursuit but to a large extent a field of interest that fascinates and even excites large sections of the population in societies around the world. Cornelius Holtorf (born 1968) is assistant professor in the Institute of Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Lund, Sweden. He gained his doctoral degree from the University of Wales with a study of the life history of megalithic monuments in Northeast Germany.

Interview with Cornelius Holtorf - LNU - DiVA
This paper is meant as a caution against a fundamentalist ideology of heritage-preservationism. CORNELIUS HOLTORF suggests an understanding of authenticity based on "networks of rela-tionships between people, places and things" (2010:189). That sounds like a promising, novel avenue to pursue, and I agree entirely with the underlying intention. However, in the end, Jones' argument falls short of her own intentions. Cornelius Holtorf (CH): To me, archaeology is a phenomenon of the contemporary world.
